Making a Hydrant

Posted by admin On November - 14 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

The following video offers a good, slow, methodical example of connecting large diameter hose to a hydrant. It should be noted however that while flushing the hydrant it should NOT be opened all the way as done in this video. The objective when flushing a hydrant is to flush any dirt or debris up and out of the hydrant. If the firefighter opens the hydrant all the way then he/she runs the risk of pushing the dirt/debris into the top of the hydrant cap and not out of the hydrant.
